Detailed weathered passes were required using 2.5D projections in Nuke

Building the entire environment inside Clarisse meant we could cover a large majority of shots and iterate quickly as we developed the prison from the ground up.

The ground was sculpted to show tracks and general snow patches and build up. Using Clarisse's scattering system we were able to paint in point clouds of varied sized boulders and ground break up.

Prison Gulag 3D Environment build, here I assisted with the creation of the prison gulag environment using Maya, Clarisse, zBrush, Mari, Photoshop and Nuke. Part of a team we were tasked with the prison buildings, ground and surrounding hills. The central yellow crane structure with cylindrical concrete structure were handled by lighting as well as the helicopter. The avalanche was created by the FX dept which both DMP and lighting used for contact shadows and beauty passes.
